Admission to PhD 

Introduction:

Indian Institute of Technology Patna has been conceived to bolster high quality technical education and research in the region and to cater to the nation’s need for well groomed technocrats and scientists. Formally registered as a society on 25th July 2008, IIT Patna’s academic programs commenced from 6th August 2008. In order to ensure the quality synonymous with the name IIT and to expedite its growth, IIT Patna has been placed under the mentorship of IIT Guwahati.

Eligibility:

• Master’s degree in Science in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.

• Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Design in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Design from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.0.

Bachelor’s degree in a related area in Engineering/ Technology/ Design (from other than IITs) in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70% of marks.

Application form(http://www.iitp.ac.in/iitp-phd/PhD-Form-IITP.doc or http://www.iitp.ac.in/iitp-phd/PhD-Form-IITP.pdf) can be obtained from the Assistant Registrar, Indian Institute of Technology Patna, Patliputra Colony, Patna – 800 013, Bihar, on or before 08-04-2009 by ordinary post or in person. To receive application forms by ordinary post, send a request along with a self-addressed, Rs.5/- stamped envelope (24cm x 15cm size). Request for form must be sent in an envelope super-scribed with ‘Request for PhD Application form’.
How to apply:
Application form with copies of mark sheets/certificates and other testimonials and a Demand Draft for Rs.150/- for General/ OBC candidates and Rs.75/- for SC/ST/PD candidates drawn in any nationalized bank and payable at Patna in favour of IIT Patna should be sent to the address listed above.
