IcfaiTech Fellowship Program

Selection to the IcfaiTech Fellowship Program is highly competitive. The Program is for candidates having consistently good academic record, professional accomplishments and a strong urge to contribute to knowledge creation and dissemination in various disciplines of Science and Technology.

Eligibility

First class B.Tech. degree in Computer Science / Electronics and Communication / Electrical / Mechanical / Civil / Biotechnology or M.Sc. degree in Physics/Mathematics. Candidates holding M.Tech. degree may also be considered and will be given exemption from the courses already completed.

Admission Process

The components of evaluating the students for admission into the IcfaiTech Fellowship Program are:

  • IcfaiTech Fellowship Aptitude Test (IFAT)

  • Past academic record

  • Micro-presentation

  • Final interview

Appropriate weightages are assigned to each of the above components and the composite score is computed based on the applicant’s performance. Admission is strictly based on merit.

The admission process consists of the following two phases and the Admission Calendar is enclosed herewith.

PHASE I

This phase consists of the IcfaiTech Fellowship Aptitude Test 2009 (IFAT 2009) to be conducted on January 18, 2009.

All applicants (except those exempted from IFAT) have to appear for IFAT 2009. The duration of the test is 2 hours. IFAT 2009 will be conducted at 78 Test centers all over India. IFAT is based on a pattern similar to GATE and consists of multiple-choice questions.

The applicants are required to select any one discipline of their choice from the following eight disciplines and mention the same in the Application Form:

Biotechnology, Civil, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical, Mechanical, Mathematics and Physics.

Applicants are required to procure the Application Form from IcfaiTech on payment of Rs.750/- by demand draft and submit it to the Admissions Officer, through Speed Post or Courier, at the following address:

Exempted Categories

Candidates with GRE scores more than 1200 or valid GATE scores of more than 90 percentile will be exempted from IFAT 2009 and will be directly called for interviews and presentations.

Online Admit Card

All eligible applicants who have submitted their filled in application forms for IFAT 2009 can download their admit cards from website. The online admit card will carry the photo, name, address, roll number of the applicant, the test date, timings and details of the test center. No hard copies of admit cards will be sent by mail.

The admit card is not transferable to any other person. Impersonation is a punishable offence under law.

Declaration of Results

The applicants will be selected for Phase II on the basis of their performance in IFAT 2009.

The results of IFAT will be available on website on the specified dates, as mentioned in the Admissions Calendar. Those who are shortlisted for Phase II of the admission process through IFAT and those from the exempted categories will be individually intimated through post / email.

PHASE II

The second phase of admission process will be conducted for two days and will be held at Hyderabad. The shortlisted applicants will receive the interview call letter along with the enrollment form, personal data form, schedule and date of Phase II of the admission process, and a confirmation form. The list of topics for micro-presentation will also be sent. Evaluation of applicants in Phase II will be done on the basis of the following:

Micro-presentation: Each applicant has to make a 5-7 minute presentation to the panel on a topic chosen by the applicant from among the list provided in advance. This will be followed by a 3-4 minute question-answer session. The objective is to assess the conceptual abilities and oral communication skills of the applicant.

Final Interview: The objective of the final interview is to assess the applicant’s competence in the subject studied, motivation, attitude and motivation to pursue the Fellowship Program.

Admission Decision

The admission decision is based on past academic record as well as the performance in the two phases of the admission process. Those who are finally selected for admission or waitlisted will be intimated individually. The Program will start on August 03, 2009 at IcfaiTech, Hyderabad
